Dr. Richard Lim is a consultant physician and palliative medicine in Hospital Selayang. He graduated in 1996 from University Malaya and later became a member of the royal college of physicians in 2000. He then trained as a palliative medicine physician at the Sydney Institute of Palliative Medicine in 2006. He previously held the position as the National Head of Palliative Medicine Subspecialty in the Ministry of Health Malaysia for almost 20 years since the inception of palliative medicine as a medical subspecialty in 2005 until late 2024. He remains active in clinical medicine while continuing his role in teaching as well as service development for the Ministry of Health. He has a special interest in communication skills, clinical ethics and advance care planning.
