Dr Julia Shahnaz Merican is a Consultant Neurologist currently practicing at Prince Court Medical Centre, Malaysia. She obtained her MBBCh BAO from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1987. In 1994, she went on to receive MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians in United Kingdom and Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.  

She was Chairperson of the first CPG on Ischaemic stroke Management (2005) AS WELL AS  Chairperson of the Consensus Guidelines on the management of Headache & Migraine in 2005 and updated in 2021. 

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr Merican holds the esteemed position of Chairperson of the Headache Council of the Malaysian Society of Neurosciences. Her areas of interest span a wide spectrum of neurological conditions including Headache Disorders & pain management
