Dr. Tan earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, followed by a neurology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York City. He then completed a neurocritical care fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and a neuroendovascular surgery fellowship at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, OH. Dr. Tan had held prominent positions as the Neurocritical Care Director at both the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Arkansas and later at Bon Secours Mercy Health Hospital in Ohio. He currently works as a neurointensivist and neurointerventionist at the Valley Regional Medical Center. He is also the clinical associate professor of neurology and neurosurgery at the University of Texas Rio Grande Medical School. Throughout his career, Dr. Tan has contributed extensively to research and has been actively involved with the Neurocritical Care Society. He also served as the current Chief Editor of the Practice of Neurocritical Care textbook. His current clinical and research interests focus on the endovascular treatment of aneurysms, stroke, intracranial diseases, and emergency and critical neurological diseases.
